It was announced that as of Friday, October 29, 2010, enhanced pat downs would be given to passengers who refuse to pass through full body scanners (AIT machines) at airports. Currently, more than 65 U.S. airports use the AIT machines. Enhanced pat downs will also be used at airports without the AIT machines, for those fliers who trigger the other security devices.
These enhanced pat downs do not use the previous ‘palms up’ method, but use the full hand and go where pat down hands at airports have never gone before. Reports are circulating . . .
